18K gold is a precious metal that will not oxidize or discolor. 18K gold contains 75% gold and the remaining 25% is an alloy mixture of Copper and Silver and other metals for 18K White Gold and Pink Gold. Since it contains a high gold purity, it does not oxidize or discolour easily. The finished 18K yellow gold jewelry normally has a coated finishing that typically has a 22K gold colour. With daily wear, the top coating will wear off leaving your jewelry with a subtler hue, the original 18K gold colour.

Gold is a very unreactive metal so your jewelry should not turn black or change colour, in normal situations. What can happen though is, if the jewelry comes into contact with other harsh chemicals (e.g. mercury), the solder area and sometimes even the gold itself could change colour. If this happens, please contact our Customer Love Team immediately.
